Enchanting Destination Wedding in Japan at the Authentic Japanese Inn

The couple’s wedding ceremony was a breathtaking homage to Japanese tradition. Dressed in exquisite wedding kimono, Ben and Mai entered their ceremony accompanied by the soothing melodies of a koto player. The musician’s rendition of Bach classics on the koto perfectly symbolized their union—a harmonious blend of East and West.

A Ceremony Rooted in Tradition

The couple’s wedding ceremony was a breathtaking homage to Japanese tradition. Dressed in exquisite wedding kimono, Ben and Mai entered their ceremony accompanied by the soothing melodies of a koto player.

The musician’s rendition of Bach classics on the koto perfectly symbolized their union—a harmonious blend of East and West.

One of the most memorable moments was the kagami-biraki, a traditional sake barrel-breaking ceremony symbolizing harmony and good fortune. This interactive ritual had guests cheering and set the tone for a joyous day. Later, the couple’s families joined in a lively mochi-tsuki (rice cake pounding) session, creating shared memories that will last a lifetime.

A Reception Fit for Royalty

For the reception, Mai chose a gown that was nothing short of spectacular.
The dress featured layers of voluminous fabric, creating a sculptural masterpiece that perfectly captured her elegance and strength.
To complement her look, I designed a bespoke bouquet that truly reflected her unique spirit.

A WEDDing Bouquet as Unique as the Bride

Gold flowers became the centerpiece of Mai’s bouquet, an unconventional yet striking choice.
The moment I envisioned gold, I knew it was the perfect match for her modern aura and inner strength.

Since natural gold flowers don’t exist, I meticulously crafted each bloom in my atelier, ensuring they radiated the sophistication she embodied.

To add a touch of drama, I incorporated a sleek black ribbon—a favorite of Mai’s—to enhance the bouquet’s individuality.
The result? A one-of-a-kind bouquet that could belong to no one but her.
Gold-accented blooms also adorned her hairpiece, tying her look together in a way that was both cohesive and utterly unique.

A Cultural Experience for Guests

Ben and Mai wanted their guests to experience the magic of a Japanese wedding, and every detail was curated to immerse them in this rich culture. From the traditional kagami-biraki to the beautifully presented kaiseki meal, their wedding was not just a celebration of their love but also a tribute to the timeless elegance of Japan.

Elevating Your Japan Wedding Photos: The Art of Styling with Thoughtful Pro

Every wedding is a work of art, a tapestry of emotions, beauty, and unforgettable moments. To capture this magic, the right props can transform your wedding photos into editorial masterpieces.

As a designer and planner, I specialize in blending elegance with unique details, infusing a hint of Japanese exotic flair to make your wedding truly unforgettable.

For those who seek a wedding experience steeped in design and style, here are my curated tips to elevate your wedding photos to new heights of beauty and sophistication.

1. Adorn Your Day: Jewelry with Flowers and Greenery

Imagine delicate jewelry resting gracefully among soft blooms, their petals cradling shimmering stones.
Combining lush greenery with elegant accessories creates a vision of ethereal charm.
This thoughtful pairing brings nature’s beauty into focus while enhancing the sparkle of your wedding look. I love incorporating dainty florals like garden roses, paired with cascading greenery to wrap around rings or earrings.

For an extra layer of uniqueness, I can weave in subtle Japanese floral elements—perhaps delicate sakura or dramatic ikebana arrangements—to elevate your styling with an exotic touch. The result? Photos that capture both the organic beauty of nature and the refined elegance of bridal style. It’s a marriage of elements that feels both timeless and editorial.

2. Feathers: A Whisper of Elegance

Feathers bring a sense of weightless luxury to your wedding photos.
Their soft textures and ethereal nature lend a touch of opulence, perfect for the bride who dreams of something artistic and unforgettable. Picture this: feathers framing a morning bridal portrait, softly draped over a robe as sunlight filters through.

Or imagine an intimate post-wedding moment, where the delicate flutter of feathers echoes the emotion of the day. These stunning details add movement and drama, turning every frame into an editorial masterpiece. One of my favorite shots involved a feathered bridal robe—the imagery was serene yet full of texture, making it the epitome of modern elegance. Paired with an element of traditional Japanese textiles, such as silk kimonos or fine obi belts, feathers can also introduce a cultural richness that feels both luxurious and deeply personal.

3. Lace and Tulle: Timeless Textures that Tell a Story

Lace and tulle bring an element of romance that is simply unmatched. They’re not just fabrics; they are poetry in motion.
A lace veil, gently swaying in the breeze, or layers of soft tulle flowing down the aisle create a visual narrative of timeless love.
These materials capture light in the most magical way, adding texture and depth to your photos.
When draped against a scenic backdrop, the contrast of intricate lace or delicate tulle against nature creates a harmonious and captivating visual that feels straight from the pages of a high-fashion magazine.
In my past weddings, I’ve seen how the interplay of these fabrics can turn a simple moment into a work of art.

For the Design-Lovers: Why Elopement and Styled Photo Sessions Are Ideal

For couples who crave beauty and design above all, elopements offer the perfect canvas.
With more time dedicated to capturing each moment, every detail—from the subtle play of light to the intricacies of your attire—can be styled to perfection.

Elopements allow for a slower pace, where we can truly craft images that are not just memories, but works of art.

I’m also excited to offer a unique, exclusive venue that is as flexible as it is stunning.

Here, you can bring your own attire, florals, and even select your favorite photographers to create a celebration that is uniquely yours.
This simple yet impeccably styled package is perfect for couples who seek a truly editorial feel, where every frame speaks of elegance, thoughtful design, and perhaps even a whisper of Japanese influence, whether through the surroundings, textiles, or florals.

Let’s Create Your Editorial Wedding Dream

Elevate Your Wedding with Japanese Calligraphy and Design

As a wedding planner, I have the privilege of working with clients who not only adore Japan but also have a keen eye for design. One element that often captivates them is the art of hand-drawn calligraphy.

Meet Ritsuko: The Master Wedding Stationer

My friend and one of my trusted collaborators, Ritsuko, Breeze Paper Design, is a wedding stationer who excels in creating beautiful paper designs for menus and place cards.

Ritsuko lives nearby, so she often visits my studio for meetings. We enjoy sipping Kona coffee while discussing our projects, and our conversations almost always begin with an enthusiastic discussion about color schemes.

A Shared Passion for Color

Ritsuko and I share a similar sensibility when it comes to color.

We both appreciate not only the theory behind color combinations but also the unexpected pairings that can captivate the eye. This shared passion extends to my floral designs as well.
No matter how skillfully a bouquet is crafted, it won't look beautiful if the color scheme feels off.

Crafting Perfect Combinations

Ritsuko and I find great joy in discussing how to bring out the individuality of our clients through carefully curated combinations of paper colors and floral hues. I believe that wedding stationers and florists need more discussion to make a perfect match in this aspect, each enhancing the other’s work with our respective expertise.

Charming Packaging

Her packaging and wrapping upon delivery are also incredibly charming, adding an extra touch of love to every piece she creates.

Special Touches for International Couples

For couples who wish to have their wedding in Japan, especially those with roots in Japan, the most popular items are the place cards with alphabets written in Japanese calligraphy. These unique touches can add a special "Wow!" factor for your guests.

Impress Your Guests with Thoughtful Design

If you want to impress your guests, make sure to pay attention to paper design as well. The meticulous details in stationery and calligraphy can truly elevate your wedding and create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Modern Hindu Wedding in Tokyo

It was a wonderful and scorching summer day in August.
I catered this lovely Indian-American couple from “THE BIG APPLE” and had a spectacular Hindu-style wedding ceremony with 2 nights reception at a modern hotel which was held in Hotel New Ohtani in Tokyo.

The guests were about 200 and came from NY, India and Japan.

They’ve set up a Gazebo with lovely red drapes for their ceremony. They used a high ceiling arena for their ceremony because the guests are over 200!

Red and white carnation garlands are one of the Hindu culture's traditional items for the brides.
It was magnificent and sacred.

And inside the gazebo, the minister was burning and used floral petals to celebrate their holy marriage.

The bride and groom’s attire were really stunning although it was made of thick and heavy fabrics.
So we tried to cool them down by using fans and bringing them iced waters from time to time.
They also said that summer in Tokyo is hotter than India.

One treasure memory with the bride was I knew her uncle!
It was indeed a small world after all, I used to work with him but a different division in the same building when I was an secretary for expats in American security firm in Tokyo.

When we saw each other after 10 years, we were both shocked and asked the question “Why are you here?”

The bride was from NY and were connected in Tokyo through her uncle. WHAT A SURPRISE!

On the day of ceremony itself, they had an intimate morning ceremony with their families and then prepare for the ceremony and receptions.

Cocktail and Reception

After the scorching afternoon, it’s finally cocktail hour for the Indian Wedding inside the "Ho" ball room at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo.

It was decorated with the bride and groom's large Initial boards, and their photos when they were kids are also placed with candles on the round table.

We also show cased 3 huge photos of their engagement photos taken in Japan. The Ho room was know because of it’s was known gorgeous and spectacular view of a Japanese garden and it’s classic chandeliers!

An Indian wedding reception is a grand occasion, it usually very gorgeous and with so much happiness around!
Eating and dancing with wearing very colorful attires.
One of the Indian style party dresses is called “SARI” which has many varieties of colors and patterns. This brides's blue Sari was elegant and classy.

The food was exquisite. It was a mixed Indian food and Japanese food Like Chicken Curry, Samosa, Sushi, Tempura, Etc.

It’s absolutely like the ones you can watch in the movies. They werere like the onew you can watch in the movies.
They were like the King and queen during the ceremony. It was beautiful and sacred that I would never forget.

Authentic Old Japanese Inn, Hidden gem venu

The world has changed since 2020. But no one can stop your LOVE and that will not FOREVER. We have had many inquiries about destination weddings in JAPAN.
Most of them had been dreaming about beautiful “intimate” and minimalist ceremonies and receptions in hidden gem somewhere in Japan.

I would like to introduce a beautiful American couple who are quite unforgettable. They were really lucky with their venue booking timing and super sunny weather after the unexpected late typhoon at that time.

Their request was an “intimate” and not too luxurIous venue. So I recommended them a beautiful hidden gem venue, “Jinya Inn”.
It’s about a one our train ride from central Tokyo, and really worth going to.

Far from the central city’s hustle and bustle, inside a private Ryokan (Inn) there is a Koi pond, and a bamboo forest sanctuary. Actually, the bride’s room building is the inspiration and model for a famous Japanese anime movie.

The most important thing is you can do your wedding in your own style, not like how other Japanese Hotels and venues insist, if you are a Mina Exclusives customer.

This couple loved this venue and booked promoptly.

So, where are you in a wedding process now? We are here to support you!
